Job Summary

This role is for a Technical Assistant to join the new international PAIN department at the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research (HZI) in Braunschweig. The successful candidate will be instrumental in establishing a new laboratory focused on understanding pain mechanisms caused by infections, particularly Herpesviruses. Daily responsibilities include performing mammalian cell cultures, executing virus infection experiments in mice, and maintaining the laboratory's daily operations, including equipment setup and solution preparation. The assistant will also support scientists with behavioral, electrophysiological, and immunohistochemical experiments, including mouse genotyping. Key qualifications include a relevant technical assistant certification, practical experience in animal handling, cell culture, virus infections, and PCR. This part-time, fixed-term position (19.5 hours/week) offers a chance to contribute to cutting-edge infectious disease research in an international environment.

Education

Successfully completed training as a Technical Assistant or comparable qualification with equivalent knowledge and experience
