Job Summary

As a Technical Officer specializing in Meteorology, Physics, Geoinformatics, or Engineering Sciences, you will play a crucial role in protecting the public from radiation exposure near nuclear facilities. Your daily tasks will involve calculating atmospheric dispersion and population exposure for annual reports, preparing and quality-assuring meteorological data, and supporting the development and maintenance of database systems and software. You will also be involved in optimizing data processing, developing software modules for dispersion and exposure calculations, and contributing to scientific publications and open-source software. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a critical environmental protection context, working autonomously and collaboratively within a federal scientific-technical agency, ensuring public safety through advanced scientific methods and continuous model adaptation.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (FH-Diplom or Bachelor) in Meteorology, Physics, Geoinformatics, Engineering Sciences, or comparable field

Experience

  • Professional experience in atmospheric transport processes and dispersion modeling
  • Professional experience with object-oriented and scripting languages
  • Professional experience with databases and their operation
  • Familiarity with modern software development methods and version control systems
