Job Summary

This doctoral researcher position at the Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies (Leibniz-IPHT) focuses on developing a comprehensive data pipeline for Mid-Infrared (IR) spectroscopy in biomedical applications. The role involves systematically investigating spectral analysis steps, including preprocessing methods to remove artifacts, implementing quality control, and developing machine learning and deep learning models to extract meaningful biomedical insights from spectral data. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in a scientific field such as Electrical Engineering or Computer Science

Experience

  • Research and development of approaches for standardizing IR spectral data preprocessing
  • Research and implementation of quality control markers for IR spectral data
  • Development of feature extraction and statistical models based on machine learning and deep learning
  • Building a complete data pipeline for IR spectral analysis, including experimentation
  • Professional experience in data science methods
  • Good experience with Python, R, or Matlab
  • Experience with deep learning approaches (e.g., UNet, GAN) is ideal
  • Understanding of IR techniques (e.g., O-PTR) and/or similar photonic technologies is desirable

  • Part-time (65%) position. Initial contract for 3 years, with potential for extension. Position starts January 1, 2026.
