Job Summary

This position at the Leibniz Institute of Photonics Technology (Leibniz IPHT) in Jena focuses on the European PhotonMed project, contributing to pilot lines for in vitro and in vivo diagnostic applications. The core responsibility involves studying cell-drug interactions using novel combinations of Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) and vibrational spectroscopic techniques, including Raman and infrared microspectrometers. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and measuring cells on SPR cartridges, characterizing point-of-care Raman readers, designing fiber optical couplers, and elaborating comprehensive workflows for combined SPR, Raman, fluorescence, and infrared data collection. Candidates must possess a Master's or PhD in natural/life sciences, coupled with advanced knowledge of spectroscopy and practical experience in designing optical setups. The role offers an inclusive, interdisciplinary working environment with world-class equipment, thorough personal training, and strong connections to the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena.
