Job Summary
The Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München is seeking a motivated Research Assistant to join a dynamic, international team focusing on infection research. This role involves preparing, conducting, and evaluating experiments related to bacteria-bacteria interactions, aiming to develop new therapeutic approaches for multi-drug resistant infections. The successful candidate will be responsible for cultivating bacteria and eukaryotic cells, applying molecular biology methods, and processing clinical bacterial and blood samples. Key responsibilities also include establishing and optimizing experimental methods and independently planning parallel experiments. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in a stimulating environment, working with pathogenic bacteria and advanced laboratory equipment, while collaborating closely with international colleagues.
Required Skills
Education
Completed training as BTA (Biological Technical Assistant), MTA (Medical Technical Assistant), or comparable qualification; alternatively, a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences or a related field.
Experience
- Professional experience in handling bacteria
- Professional experience with molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, qPCR, cloning, DNA and RNA extractions, Western blot, ELISA, microscopy)
- Professional experience in responsible handling of pathogenic bacteria of Risk Group 2

- Temporary employment until October 31, 2027. Work with pathogenic bacteria of Risk Group 2. Location is Planegg (Campus Martinsried).
