Job Summary

The Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich is seeking a highly motivated PhD Candidate to join the SFB/TRR 425 DEFINE consortium, focusing on Project B05: "Hyper-adhesion and mechanical stress to treat pemphigus." This role involves conducting advanced scientific work to understand how desmosomes mature, how their binding properties are regulated, and their influence on wound healing in Pemphigus, particularly under mechanical stress. Day-to-day tasks include executing scientific experiments using a broad spectrum of methods, emphasizing biophysical techniques like Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and cell stretchers, alongside advanced imaging (STED microscopy). The candidate will be responsible for coordinating project-related lab work, analyzing data, and presenting findings at conferences. A successful candidate must possess a Master's degree in a relevant life science field (e.g., Biology, Biophysics) and strong practical experience in lab-based and analytical methods. This position offers a fully funded, fixed-term contract within a highly cooperative, international, and multidisciplinary research environment with access to cutting-edge research infrastructure in central Munich.

Required Skills

Master's degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
