Job Summary

This role is for a Technical Assistant specializing in ecotoxicological test procedures at the Bavarian State Office for the Environment in Augsburg, Germany. The successful candidate will be instrumental in conducting crucial ecotoxicological tests, specifically focusing on determining estrogenic potential in water samples. Key responsibilities include sample preparation using solid-phase extraction, cultivating and working with genetically modified organisms and cell cultures, and performing quality control tasks within the laboratory. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to environmental protection by assessing the risks of chemicals and their ecotoxicological effects in environmental samples, particularly in a project establishing a biological effect test for estrogenic effects in groundwater.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a biological-technical assistant, agricultural-technical assistant, or comparable professional qualification.

Experience

  • Knowledge in biotest procedures and microbiological methods
  • Experience in planning experiments
  • Professional experience in biological analysis procedures (advantageous)
  • Experience in handling genetically modified organisms and cell cultures (desirable)

  • This is a part-time position (85%) with a fixed-term contract until October 31, 2028, starting November 1, 2025. Applicants must be able to work standing for extended periods and possess resilience and stress resistance.
