Job Summary

This specialist role supports the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) on the critical "Subrosion and Karst in Bavaria" project, focusing on the integrated digital data management of geological and hydrogeological fundamentals. The successful candidate will be based in Hof and responsible for the operation and continuous development of a central Enterprise Geodatabase (PostgreSQL). Daily tasks involve the computer-aided generalization and preparation of specialized geodata for various scale ranges, developing automated routines for map creation, and ensuring rigorous quality assurance of all geodata. You will also develop dynamic map views for internet publication and manage the technical oversight of externally contracted programming services. This is a unique opportunity to apply specialized geoinformatics skills to environmental protection within a public authority setting, offered as a fixed-term contract until the end of 2030, providing flexible working hours and the potential for remote work.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diplom / University or Master) in Geoinformatics, Geomatics, Cartography, Geography, Geology, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in Geodata Management
  • Professional experience in Geodata Quality Assurance
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL databases
  • Experience in managing external programming services (creating specifications and tenders)
