Job Summary

This role involves conceptualizing, testing, and selecting equipment for the THW's Electrical Power Supply and Infrastructure specialist groups, working closely with volunteers. Day-to-day tasks include creating technical specifications, managing procurement projects, conducting sample inspections and technical reviews, and leading or participating in relevant committees. The engineer will also perform market analyses, demand assessments, and decommissioning appraisals, while providing technical support to regional and local THW units. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure and emergency power supply, ensuring technical readiness for disaster response within a supportive, flexible, and internationally engaged organization.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in a scientific-technical field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Supply Engineering, Energy Technology, or comparable engineering sciences)

Experience

  • At least three years of relevant professional experience in an engineering-focused role following a Bachelor's degree, or initial relevant professional experience in an engineering-focused role following a Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of operating emergency power generators (Netzersatzanlagen)
  • Basic knowledge of procurement and public contract law

Languages

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Willingness to undertake business trips, willingness to work outside regular hours and be reachable when needed (e.g., in case of emergency), willingness to participate in the THW's Command and Coordination Staff (LuK), willingness to wear service/deployment clothing on specific occasions. For foreign university degrees, a certificate evaluation from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) is required.
