Job Summary

This pivotal role involves leading the newly established Center for Quantum Technologies (QuTe) at Saarland University, a cutting-edge interdisciplinary hub uniting physics, mathematics, computer science, and engineering. The Managing Director will be instrumental in shaping the center's strategic direction, coordinating collaborations with various university departments and partner institutions, and overseeing the development of its administrative and scientific structures. Key responsibilities include team leadership, budget management, project acquisition, and representing the center to external stakeholders, nationally and internationally. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive innovation in quantum technologies, foster interdisciplinary exchange, and position the Saarland region at the forefront of the quantum era.

Required Skills

Education

University degree, potentially a doctorate, preferably in Natural Sciences, Computer Science, or Mathematics

Experience

  • Proven leadership experience in scientific contexts
  • Experience in coordinating complex projects
  • Experience in building and leading interdisciplinary teams
  • Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration

Languages

German (Fluent)English (Fluent)

Additional

  • Knowledge of current topics and trends in knowledge transfer and third-party funding acquisition
  • Good knowledge of structures and processes in universities and research organizations, ideally also in budget and procurement law
  • High identification with the goals and topics of QuTe
  • Willingness to actively and solution-oriented shape processes
  • Fixed-term contract until October 15, 2032, with option for extension
