Job Summary

This role at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) involves managing a cutting-edge research lab focused on neuroendocrine communication and its influence on behavior and physiology. The successful candidate will oversee lab operations, including financial management and the critical task of drafting and revising animal experiment applications in German. They will also manage the mouse colony, supported by a technical assistant, and potentially engage in experimental work. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to interdisciplinary research, working closely with the group leader and collaborating with international partners like the Yale School of Medicine, all within a modern research environment. The role is initially for 5 years with the aim of long-term collaboration to build excellent scientific infrastructure.

Required Skills

Education

Master's (MSc) or Ph.D. in Biology, Human Biology, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or equivalent. Completed animal experiment course at a German university.

Experience

  • At least 3 years in handling laboratory animals
  • Experience in drafting animal experiment applications in German
  • Experience in documenting laboratory animals

Additional

  • Proof of full immunization or immunity against the measles virus is required before employment. This is a fixed-term contract for 5 years, with the aim of long-term collaboration. Full-time or part-time employment is possible.
