Job Summary

This 2-year postdoctoral position at the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge nuclear physics experiments within the international FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research) project, one of the world's largest research initiatives. The successful candidate will engage in research with exotic nuclei, participate in data analysis and interpretation of FAIR Phase-0 experiments, and contribute to scientific-technical developments using the FRS as a platform for Super-FRS early-science experiments. This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual with a strong background in experimental nuclear, atomic, or hadron physics, offering the chance to develop an individual scientific-technical profile within a world-class international research environment.

Required Skills

Education

Doctorate in experimental nuclear, atomic, or hadron physics

Experience

  • Professional experience in research with exotic nuclei
  • Practical experience with magnet spectrometers, heavy ion or radiation detectors, nuclear physics electronics, or data acquisition and analysis systems
  • Experience in designing and conducting experiments combining magnet spectrometers with complex detector systems
  • Demonstrated experience with nuclear physics experiments, preferably with exotic nuclei, and associated data analysis
  • Experience with simulation codes
  • Experience with ion optical design and associated simulations
