Job Summary

This role involves comparing the environmental impacts of deep-seabed mining with conventional land-based mining, utilizing a newly developed metric. The successful candidate will analyze extensive data from polymetallic nodule ecosystems, including new expedition data, and apply advanced numerical and statistical models to assess impacts on biogeochemical processes and ecosystem health. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to international regulations for seabed mineral exploitation within the European MiningImpact project. It's an attractive opportunity for a natural sciences professional to work in an inter- and transdisciplinary research environment, publish in international journals, and present at conferences, with the added benefit of pursuing a doctoral degree.

Master's or Diploma in Natural Sciences (Marine Sciences, Marine Geosciences, Marine Biology or similar)

Experience
