Job Summary

The Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel is seeking a Network System Engineer to join their central data center. In this role, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the university's state-wide network and internet connections, including backup systems for network hardware and services. You will also contribute to the expansion and integration of passive networks and participate in construction and renovation projects. Key responsibilities include installing, configuring, operating, and maintaining network technology and services across the campus and data center, as well as troubleshooting network incidents. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor/Master) in (Business) Informatics or a related field, or vocational training as an IT Specialist (e.g., for System Integration)

Experience

  • Professional experience in routing and switching within large network contexts
  • Professional experience with physical network standards (EIA/TIA 568)
  • Initial professional experience if holding a university degree, or several years of professional experience if holding a vocational qualification as an IT specialist
