Job Summary

This role involves contributing to cutting-edge research in theoretical chemistry, specifically focusing on heterogeneous catalysis, theoretical spectroscopy, and non-adiabatic molecular dynamics. The successful candidate will apply and implement quantum mechanical methods, working closely with experimental groups in Physical Chemistry. This position offers the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. while collaborating with international and interdisciplinary research teams, contributing to the development of program packages like CP2K and NewtonX, and accessing advanced HPC systems. Ideal for someone with a strong background in theoretical chemistry or physics, excellent programming skills, and a passion for interdisciplinary research and method development.

Required Skills

Education

Master's or Diploma degree in Physics or Chemistry, preferably with a focus on Theoretical Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience with quantum chemical software packages for solid-state chemistry
  • Experience with Linux systems and supercomputers
  • Enthusiasm for planned research and necessary collaborations
  • Interest in interdisciplinary questions
  • High degree of independence

Additional

  • This is a fixed-term position for three years, with a weekly working time equivalent to half of a full-time position (approx. 19.35 hours). The role includes a teaching obligation of two teaching hours per week. Candidates must be eligible for a doctoral degree.
