Job Summary

This role involves supporting hydrological measurement activities for the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration. Day-to-day tasks include evaluating hydrological data, assisting with small tenders and procurements, conducting flow measurements, and maintaining measuring devices. The successful candidate will also perform on-site water level adjustments. Key requirements include a vocational qualification in water construction, road construction, masonry, or a related field like landscaping or forestry, or a qualification as an administrative assistant. A Class BE driving license is essential, along with a willingness to drive official vehicles. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and sustainable improvement of waterways and shipping in Germany, working within a large federal network with family-friendly conditions and opportunities for further training.

Required Skills

Education

• Vocational training as a Water Builder, Road Builder, Mason, or in a related field (e.g., Garden and Landscape Construction, Forestry) • OR Vocational training as an Administrative Assistant or in a related field (e.g., Office Administrator) • Swimming certificate (Bronze) (desirable)

Experience

  • Professional experience with electro-technical devices such as data loggers and hydrological measuring devices (desirable)
  • Professional experience working with various PC software in an office environment (desirable)
  • Professional experience working on uneven terrain (e.g., unpaved and steep riverbanks) (desirable)

Languages

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Class BE driving license (formerly Class 3) and willingness to drive official vehicles
  • Sport boat license or willingness to obtain one (desirable)
  • Good physical condition for kneeling, standing, lifting, and carrying activities
  • Physical suitability for traversing and working on uneven terrain (e.g., unpaved and steep riverbanks)
  • Willingness to undergo further training
  • Work permit for Germany
