Job Summary

The City of Paderborn is seeking a dedicated GIS Specialist to join its Geoinformation Office. In this full-time, permanent role, you will be instrumental in developing, maintaining, and administering the city's Geoinformation Infrastructure (GDI PB), including GIS systems and WebGIS applications. A key focus will be advancing the GDI PB towards Digital Twins and City Information Modeling, analyzing and visualizing geoinformation for municipal needs, and supporting the Urban Data Platform, especially Smart Cities initiatives. You will also create automated data integration processes, provide user support and training, and collaborate with various city departments and external stakeholders. This position offers a modern technical environment, opportunities for professional development, and the chance to contribute to Paderborn's innovative Smart City projects.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree in Geoinformatics, preferably with a focus on Information Technology, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience with common GIS systems (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, Geoserver) and web applications
  • Experience in programming/scripting (e.g., Python, JavaScript, SQL)
  • Experience with geodata formats and web services (WMS, WFS, GeoJSON etc.)
  • Experience in databases with spatial reference (PostGIS etc.)
  • Experience with FME technology (desirable)
  • Experience in containerization (Docker) and deployment (Kubernetes) (desirable)
  • Relevant experience in the municipal or other public sector (ideally)
