Job Summary

The TUD Dresden University of Technology is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate / PhD Student for its Chair of Ultrafast Microscopy and Photonics. This role involves conducting scientific research on the optical properties of excitonic many-particle states in novel two-dimensional materials, specifically focusing on spectroscopic investigations, measurements, and analysis using linear and non-linear microscopy. The successful candidate will contribute to projects on propagation dynamics of exciton-electron complexes and quantum gases in moiré-ordered heterostructures. This position offers an excellent opportunity for academic qualification within a leading international research institution, collaborating with national and international partners, and disseminating findings through peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

Master's degree or comparable in Physics

Experience

  • Professional experience in basic and application-related research
  • Experimental skills in optics and material preparation
  • Familiarity with low-dimensional van der Waals materials
  • Up-to-date knowledge of spectroscopy and microscopy
  • Experience with strain engineering and hybrid heterostructures

Additional

  • The position is initially limited until October 31, 2027, with the option of extension. It entails 75% of the full-time weekly hours. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG).
