Job Summary

This role involves contributing to the "WiTAFFF" project, funded by the BMBF, focusing on enhancing forest fire fighting efficiency through improved innovation and knowledge transfer. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and implementing a model region in the Otterberg Forest District, developing comprehensive training concepts for forestry professionals and students, and creating educational materials for both fire services and forestry. Key tasks also include adapting international vegetation fire fighting standards to German conditions, fostering knowledge transfer between research and practical application, and analyzing project results for reports and presentations. This position requires strong analytical and conceptual skills, physical fitness for fieldwork, and the ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific technical university degree in fire protection (preventive or defensive), e.g., rescue engineering with a focus on fire and disaster protection, forest and environmental sciences, or a comparable degree with relevant subject matter.

Experience

  • Professional experience in forest or fire department technical areas, ideally with additional qualifications in fire protection or fire protection technology
  • Experience in conducting training for forest fire prevention
  • Experience in forest fire management

  • Valid Class B (3) driver's license; Willingness to undertake business trips and fieldwork in forests, including challenging weather conditions; Physical fitness for outdoor activities; Fixed-term contract until August 31, 2027.
