This role is for an international PhD student to join the trainLSE EU MSCA-COFUND program at TU Darmstadt, focusing on the fascinating intersection of life sciences and engineering. The successful candidate will work on a project combining microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology and cryogenics to advance cell cryopreservation and tissue engineering. Day-to-day, this involves investigating new approaches to cryopreserving single cells without cryoprotectants and exploring the scale-up to complex tissue models. Key areas of research include developing microstructured 3D scaffolds with specific thermal characteristics and establishing culture conditions for freeze-tolerance. Excellent Master's degree in life sciences or engineering disciplines
Experience
