Job Summary

This unique opportunity, funded by the prestigious DAAD Graduate School Scholarship Programme (GSSP), invites international PhD candidates to join the Graduate School for Life Science Engineering at TU Darmstadt. The focus of this research is the development of cutting-edge RNA-based devices, specifically synthetic riboswitches, designed to precisely control RNA therapeutics. The successful candidate will work on engineering these devices to sense the cellular environment, activating translation only upon reaching target cells and self-destructing when no longer required. Day-to-day tasks involve employing a variety of advanced methods, including in vitro selection of aptamers, detailed biochemical and genetic characterization, and their engineering into functional riboswitches. This position is ideal for highly motivated scientists with a recent Master’s degree who seek to conduct interdisciplinary research at the intersection of engineering, chemistry, and life sciences within a global network under renowned supervision.
