Job Summary

This unique opportunity is a fully funded PhD scholarship (DAAD GSSP) within the Graduate School for Life Science Engineering at TU Darmstadt, focusing on cutting-edge research in synthetic biology and materials science. The successful candidate will join the Smart-Membranes/Andrieu-Brunsen Lab to develop artificial cells and compartmentalized cascade reactions. Key responsibilities include designing, manufacturing, and functionalizing nanoscale porous materials (e.g., mesoporous films, ceramic materials) using synthetic and sol-gel chemistry to precisely control molecular transport. The research aims to integrate these materials into multi-compartment systems or microfluidic devices for applications in water management, sensor technology, and chemical information processing. This role requires a high degree of independence, motivation, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, interdisciplinary team environment, contributing original ideas to push the limits of nanopore transport.
