Job Summary

This role at the Technical University of Dresden involves conducting research on the deformation and damage behavior of superhard and damage-tolerant nitridic high-entropy coatings under cyclic mechanical loading. The successful candidate will focus on understanding crack initiation and growth, developing a prediction model for lifetime estimation based on defect characteristics. Day-to-day tasks include performing fatigue tests, in-situ characterization of damage behavior, machine learning-driven image and data analysis, and basic coating characterization. The position offers an opportunity for scientific qualification, typically a doctorate, within a motivated team working on promising technologies for a sustainable future. This is an attractive opportunity for a highly self-motivated individual with a background in materials science or a related engineering field, eager to contribute to cutting-edge research and present findings at conferences and in scientific articles.
