Job Summary

This role at the Technical University Dresden's Institute of Materials Science involves cutting-edge research into the fatigue behavior of material composites, specifically Ti6Al4V with diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings. The successful candidate will investigate the influence of hard, wear-resistant PVD coatings on component fatigue, focusing on crack initiation at the layer-substrate interface and its impact on material lifespan. Day-to-day tasks include conducting and coordinating PVD coating processes, material characterization, and performing various tests such as cyclic nanoindentation, surface wave spectroscopy (LAwave), and classical fatigue tests. This position offers a unique opportunity for scientific qualification, typically leading to a doctorate, within a motivated team working on sustainable technologies. The role is ideal for a self-motivated individual with a strong background in materials science or engineering, eager to contribute to fundamental understanding and explore new applications for advanced coating materials.
