Job Summary

The Technical University of Dresden, a leading research institution, is seeking a Research Associate to join the Emmy Noether Junior Research Group "MEiTNER" at the Institute for Semiconductor and Microsystems Technology. This interdisciplinary project focuses on developing novel concepts for flexible electronics based on dielectric elastomers, including advanced manufacturing technologies and conductive inks. The successful candidate will contribute to the next generation of bio-inspired, flexible robots and interactive human-machine interfaces. Key responsibilities include identifying biological models, defining system architectures using dielectric elastomer actuators, switches, and sensors, and conducting development work to enhance DES capabilities. The role involves investigating mechanical behavior of elastomeric circuits, exploring applications in collaborative robotics, industrial robotics, and medical technology, and designing and validating demonstrators. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge research with international collaborators, including the University of Auckland, with potential for short research stays in New Zealand.

Required Skills

Education

Above-average university degree, potentially with a doctorate, in Electrical Engineering, Microsystems Technology, Material Sciences, or related fields

Experience

  • Professional experience in Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, Microtechnologies, or Soft-Robotics (at least three areas desired)
  • Experience with independent and goal-oriented work
