Job Summary

Join the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) in Heidelberg as a part-time MTA / BTA / Biology Laboratory Technician, contributing to critical cancer research. In this role, you will independently manage sample reception, preparation, and the extraction of nucleic acids and proteins from human samples. Your responsibilities will also include preparing frozen tissue sections, organizing sample logistics across the Heidelberg campus, and meticulously documenting processes using computer-based systems. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dedicated team of technical staff, scientists, and physicians within a state-of-the-art, ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory. You will play a vital role in optimizing existing processes and establishing new methods, directly supporting the translation of promising cancer research into clinical applications.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as MTA (Medical Technical Assistant) / BTA (Biological Technical Assistant) / Laboratory Technician or comparable qualification

Experience

  • Professional experience in molecular biological methods (e.g., DNA/RNA isolation and quality control)
  • Experience with primary tumor material (advantageous)
  • Experience working under an existing quality management system (ideal)
