Job Summary

The Technical University of Dresden (TUD) is seeking a highly qualified Research Associate or Postdoctoral Researcher to establish a cutting-edge noble gas isotope laboratory. This role, initially project-based until December 2027 with potential for permanent part-time employment, involves the crucial task of setting up and optimizing a noble gas isotope mass spectrometer for helium isotope analysis in groundwater samples. The successful candidate will be responsible for verifying and validating the analytical methods through comparative measurements and real-world sample analysis, preparing the system for regular operational use. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a pioneering service analysis laboratory for helium isotopes in groundwater, fostering scientific development within an interdisciplinary team at a leading German university.

Required Skills

Education

University degree and a doctorate, preferably in Physics or Chemistry

Experience

  • Scientific publications and extensive professional references in noble gas or isotope analysis
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of vacuum systems
  • Ability to construct electronically controlled systems and automate them
  • Willingness for multi-week stays in Bremen (helis-laboratory) for system establishment
  • Contributions to national and international visibility and networking (publications, presentations, workshops)
