Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate or Doctoral Candidate to join the Institute of Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering and Electronics at TU Dresden, focusing on the design and investigation of energy-efficient modulator driver chips. The role involves cutting-edge research within the DFG-funded PLASMODICS project, focusing on the co-design of plasmonic low-voltage ring modulators and customized electrical driver circuits for optical data transmission. Day-to-day tasks include researching, designing, analyzing, optimizing, implementing, and measuring high-frequency and mixed-signal circuits using innovative concepts for low modulation voltages and high energy efficiency. The successful candidate will utilize advanced SiGe-BiCMOS and CMOS technologies, publish scientific papers, and contribute to the development of next-generation 5G/6G communication and sensor systems. This position offers significant opportunities for scientific qualification, typically leading to a PhD or Habilitation, within a highly awarded and collaborative team.

Required Skills

Education

Very good or good university degree in Electrical Engineering, Communication Technology, or Information Technology. Doctoral degree (Promotion) is helpful.

Experience

  • Professional experience in circuit, high-frequency, semiconductor, and communication technology
  • Experience with IC design methodologies
  • Experience using CAD IC Design tools for circuit simulation and chip layout (helpful)
  • Experience in research, analysis, and optimization of complex electronic systems
