Job Summary
This role offers a unique opportunity for a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Chair of Electronic Components at the University of Wuppertal. The successful candidate will focus on the fabrication and optimization of organic and perovskite-based solar cells, including their optical and electronic characterization. A key aspect of the role involves automated data generation for training neural networks and applying machine learning for process automation and optimization. You will be instrumental in developing and constructing measurement and processing technology, managing existing infrastructure, and fostering close collaboration within a project team, with AI development partners, and industrial partners. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to develop an individual research profile within a supportive scientific environment, contributing to cutting-edge research in semiconductor technology and renewable energy.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree, Diploma, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a similar field
Experience
- Professional experience with laboratory work and measurement technology
- Experience with thin-film technology (ideally)
- Experience with process automation (ideally)
- Experience with data generation for machine learning (ideally)

- This is a qualification position under the German Act on Fixed-Term Employment Contracts in Academia (WissZeitVG), intended to support a doctoral procedure (Doctoral Candidate) or to promote scientific or artistic qualification (Post-Doc). The position is limited to a maximum of 3 years for doctoral candidates, with potential for extension within legal limits. For Post-Docs, the contract duration is tailored to the intended scientific qualification. Full-time position, part-time possible upon request.
