Job Summary
This role involves establishing and advancing research data management for the 'GreenRobust' Cluster of Excellence, focusing on data backup, storage, migration, metadata, and archiving. The IT Engineer will also be responsible for planning, implementing, operating, and documenting complex IT projects, including server administration, network configuration, user management, and IT security. This position offers a dynamic international environment at Heidelberg University, requiring strong technical skills in IT infrastructure, networking, and operating systems. Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or university diploma in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field, or in Natural Sciences
Experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience in planning, implementing, and optimizing complex IT infrastructures
- Sound network knowledge (security, VLAN, routing, switching, firewall)
- Very good knowledge of Linux, Windows, Windows Server, and macOS
- Knowledge of virtual infrastructures and container solutions (VMware, Docker)
- Knowledge of automated tools for installation, configuration, and administration of heterogeneous computer environments
- Sound knowledge in web services and server administration
- Knowledge of designing and managing large storage systems
- Experience with project and network documentation
- Experience with incident and problem management
