Job Summary

The City of Saarbrücken is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer to join its Department for Road Construction and Traffic Infrastructure. In this full-time, permanent role, you will be instrumental in maintaining public roads, paths, and squares across the city. Your daily responsibilities will include comprehensive project management, from preparation, tendering, and awarding contracts to on-site construction supervision and billing for road maintenance and civil engineering projects. You will also coordinate extensively with various stakeholders, including other city departments, utility providers, and residents, throughout all construction phases. This position requires strong organizational skills, independent work, and a deep understanding of road construction regulations, offering a chance to contribute significantly to urban infrastructure.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Traffic Engineering/Road Construction or Structural Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering/Science, Master of Engineering/Science, or Diploma Engineer (FH/TH/TU)). Alternatively, a Master's or Technician's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Construction, Civil Engineering, or Road Construction) with long-term relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge in road construction
  • Professional experience in a relevant field for Meister or Techniker applicants
  • Leadership experience (advantageous)

Languages

German (Fluent)

Additional

  • Must possess a valid driving license (at least Class B) and be willing to use own vehicle for official travel. Willingness to work outside regular hours if required. Foreign university degrees require evaluation by the Kultusministerkonferenz (KMK/ZAB).
