Job Summary
This role involves critical data management and geospatial analysis to support species and aquatic habitat protection. The Geomatics Specialist will be responsible for maintaining and quality-assuring the 'Fischinfo NRW' database, including error analysis, data entry, and digitizing analog information. A key part of the job includes using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), primarily ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro, to process, analyze, and visualize ecological data for reports and publications. Additionally, the specialist will handle correspondence with fisheries and conservation authorities, manage administrative tasks, and contribute to quality management processes. This position is ideal for someone with strong GIS skills, an interest in aquatic ecology, and a commitment to environmental conservation.
Required Skills
Education
Three-year vocational training (BBiG) as a Geomatics Specialist, Surveying Technician (specializing in Surveying), or a comparable relevant vocational training (completed or expected completion by Summer 2025)
Experience
- Professional experience with Geographic Information Systems, preferably ArcGIS and/or ArcGIS Pro
- Experience in creating Excel evaluations (advantageous)
- Experience in creating and administering databases (e.g., Access) (advantageous)
- Experience in handling nature conservation data (advantageous)
- Experience in general administrative tasks (advantageous)
- Knowledge in quality management (advantageous)
