Job Summary

This role involves supporting national and international environmental and sustainability research, with a specific focus on natural climate protection and biodiversity. The Scientific Officer will provide expert advice to clients on nature conservation policies, manage funding programs, and oversee project implementation. Key responsibilities include evaluating programs, reviewing project proposals, monitoring ongoing initiatives, and developing support measures for funding lines related to natural climate protection. The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background in fields such as biology, forestry, or geography, coupled with significant professional experience in peatland research, ecosystem studies, and greenhouse gas flux monitoring. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Diploma/Master) in Biology, Forest Sciences, Geography, Landscape Planning, Landscape Ecology, or Agriculture. Other scientific degrees with relevant content may also be considered.

Experience

  • Several years of scientific professional experience or a doctorate in at least two of the following areas: peatland climate research, rewetting of peatlands, paludiculture, peatland ecosystem studies, monitoring studies on peatlands, research on greenhouse gas fluxes and ecosystem functions in peatlands
  • Experience in the management of funding measures or projects, in results transfer, and/or in the evaluation of projects or funding measures, preferably with a focus on natural climate protection
