Job Summary
The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) is seeking a Technical Employee with expertise in Materials Science, Physics Technology, or Mechanical Engineering to join their Plasma to Wall (P2W) division in Garching. This role is crucial for the BMFTR-funded ICoStruc project, focusing on innovative composite structures for fusion devices. The successful candidate will provide technical support in manufacturing and testing material samples, setting up and maintaining laboratory equipment for material characterization, and documenting experimental operations. This position offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge fusion research aimed at developing safe, sustainable, and climate-neutral energy sources, working within one of Germany's largest scientific-technical projects.
Required Skills
Education
State-certified Technician (Werkstofftechnik, Physiktechnik, Maschinenbau or similar) or Engineer (relevant field)
Experience
- Professional experience in materials science, physics technology, or mechanical engineering
- Experience in handling metallic and/or composite materials (advantageous)
