Job Summary

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the establishment of the German Centre for Astrophysics (DZA) in Görlitz. The successful candidate will focus on integrating CMOS detector technology into the Universal Bayesian Imaging Kit (UBIK). Day-to-day tasks involve extensive literature review on information field theory and detector technology, developing fast and accurate digital twins of CMOS detectors, and automating detector characterization. A key responsibility is the development of information field theory-based correction methods for atmospheric image distortions in astronomical observations using CMOS data. The role requires validating these methods with real observational data, actively participating in scientific meetings, and publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals. This position is ideal for a proactive individual passionate about astrophysics and detector technology, offering a chance to shape the future of a major research institution and contribute to regional development.
