Job Summary
Join the Institute of Virology at Saarland University as a Research Associate, contributing to cutting-edge research on human polyomaviruses. This role focuses on developing new therapies, specifically investigating antiviral agents against BK Polyomavirus infection in kidney and bone marrow transplant patients, as part of the Volkswagen Foundation-funded ANTIPOLE project. You will utilize advanced 3D cell culture and genomic technologies within an excellent international scientific environment, collaborating with clinical departments and accessing valuable patient material. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in natural or life sciences, a passion for interdisciplinary work, and excellent English skills, contributing to identifying viral replication mechanisms and studying virus evolution and pathogenesis.

Education
Completed scientific university degree in Natural or Life Sciences (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Medicine, Pharmacy)
Experience
- Professional experience with cell and molecular biological techniques (advantageous)
- Basic knowledge in bioinformatics (advantageous)
