Job Summary
The Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz is seeking an internationally recognized expert to fill a University Professorship in Theoretical and Quantum Chemistry. The successful candidate will lead research in a current area of theoretical and quantum chemistry, with a focus on developing and applying theoretical methods for quantitative analysis of molecular processes relevant to sustainable chemistry, such as photochemical, catalytic, or redox-chemical processes, and describing molecules in electronically excited states. This role involves active participation in the Department of Chemistry's Sustainable Chemistry research focus and the SusInnoScience initiative. The professor will also be responsible for teaching theoretical and quantum chemistry courses at both Bachelor's and Master's levels in Chemistry, Biomedical Chemistry, and Chemistry Education, and contributing to curriculum development. Strong communication skills, leadership ability, and a collaborative approach are essential for this position.

Doctorate (Promotion) and additional scientific achievements (e.g., Habilitation, Junior Professorship, or equivalent scientific achievements)
Experience
- Outstanding achievements in a current field of Theoretical and Quantum Chemistry
- Proven ability to lead an independent research group
- Successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding
- Active participation in and shaping of ongoing and planned research activities
- Experience in developing and applying theoretical methods for quantitative analysis of molecular processes
- Experience in teaching theoretical and quantum chemistry at university level
