Job Summary

This PhD position offers a unique opportunity for a dedicated chemist or materials scientist to contribute to cutting-edge research in electrochemical CO₂ reduction within an interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate will independently plan, execute, and evaluate experiments using state-of-the-art electrochemical cell systems, analyze data, and contribute to the development of next-generation CO₂ conversion technologies. This role involves hands-on work with zero-gap flow cell setups, catalyst synthesis, and electrode preparation, alongside scientific communication and collaboration. The position is ideal for someone passionate about applying fundamental research to scalable solutions for climate protection, working closely with industrial partners and research institutions.

Required Skills

Education

MSc. Chemistry, Material Sciences, or comparable degrees

Experience

  • Hands-on experience with electrochemical characterization methods
  • Practical knowledge of zero-gap flow cell setups and operation
  • Expertise in the synthesis and characterization of molecular and heterogeneous catalysts
  • Experience in catalyst ink formulation and electrode preparation (ideal)
  • Familiarity with advanced analytical techniques for catalyst performance and electrode stability evaluation
  • Ability to independently design, conduct, and troubleshoot experiments
