Job Summary

This role involves supporting the newly established Mass Spectrometry Core for Life Sciences (MCLS) at Ruhr-Universität, a central facility providing mass spectrometry-based analytical services for various research groups. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the daily operation of the facility, focusing on the maintenance and operation of diverse mass spectrometers and front-end systems like HPLC and GC. Key responsibilities include sample preparation and analysis, general laboratory organization, and active participation in laboratory safety and procurement processes. The position also entails preparing and supporting teaching activities, as well as mentoring students and colleagues. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a biological/chemical technical assistant, specialist analyst, biology/chemistry laboratory technician, or comparable practical professional experience in biochemical/analytical laboratories.

Experience

  • Comprehensive expertise in MS-based analytics (ICP-MS, Metabolomics & Proteomics)
  • Intensive experience with Gas and Liquid Chromatography
  • Professional experience with common biochemical methods (e.g., Bradford-Assay, SDS-PAGE, Western Blot) and protein proteolysis protocols
  • Experience with molecular biology methods (e.g., PCR, cloning, agarose gel electrophoresis)
