Job Summary

The Koblenz Police Headquarters is seeking a dedicated IT Technician to join their team, playing a crucial role in maintaining the information and communication technology infrastructure. This position involves hands-on configuration of hardware, networks, operating systems, and virtual environments, alongside database management and software installation. The successful candidate will provide essential second-level IT support, advise on data protection and IT security, and contribute to system administration tasks. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on security-relevant projects within a dynamic public safety environment, including participation in special police operations and on-call duties, ensuring the smooth operation of critical IT systems for over a million residents.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, or a comparable field, OR completed vocational training (e.g., IT specialist) with relevant and extensive professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT, specifically with relevant and extensive experience if not holding a university degree
  • In-depth knowledge of current Microsoft Windows operating systems and applications
  • Extensive and in-depth knowledge of IT components and network functionality and configuration
  • Experience in programming applications and scripts
  • Willingness to participate in police operations outside regular working hours and on-call duty on weekends
  • Willingness to participate in technical on-call duty (typically one week every six weeks)

  • Must possess a Class B driving license (Class BE desirable). Willingness to undergo a security clearance check in accordance with the State Security Clearance Act (LSÜG).
