Job Summary
The Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) is seeking an Electronics Engineer to join their team in Garching, near Munich. This role is crucial for the NewAthena ESA mission, specifically for the Wide Field Imager (WFI) instrument, which utilizes unique Silicon-DEPFET technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for the commissioning and extensive testing of complex analog and digital electronic modules, including FPGA-based control electronics. Key responsibilities include defining and documenting test requirements, developing test setups, creating VHDL test blocks, and optimizing existing VHDL designs. The position offers a challenging and autonomous role within a dynamic and international research environment, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration on cutting-edge satellite instrumentation.
Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or equivalent in Electronics/Electrical Engineering
Experience
- Professional experience in VHDL programming of FPGAs
- Experience in developing test setups and conducting tests
- Experience in electronics development for space projects (ideal)
- Experience in electronics development (schematic design and PCB layout) in analog and digital technology for the space sector (advantageous)
