Job Summary

The Berlin Fire Department, Germany's oldest and largest professional fire brigade, is seeking a Section Head for Network Infrastructure. This pivotal role involves leading the planning, coordination, and oversight of the entire IT network infrastructure within the BFDN department. Responsibilities include budget management, staff scheduling, developing network strategies, troubleshooting IT systems, and managing procurement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in IT, particularly network architectures and components, with proven experience in installation, troubleshooting, and management systems. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) in Information Technology or a comparable field, OR a relevant completed vocational training in Information Technology.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of practical experience in Information Technology with a university degree OR at least 5 years of relevant experience in IT with leadership responsibility and a vocational IT qualification
  • Practical skills in network component installation and troubleshooting
  • Experience with management systems and integrated networks including IKT systems
  • Experience in managing on-call duties

  • Security clearance level SÜ 2 (Sicherheitsüberprüfung nach SÜG) required, to be applied for by the Berlin Fire Department and obtained before employment. Willingness to participate in on-call duty if required. Driving license B (desirable).
