Job Summary

Join the Berlin Fire Department and Police in building Germany's most advanced emergency control center. As an IT Systems Technician, you will be crucial to the Central Technical Operations Department, responsible for the technical conceptualization, planning, administration, and optimization of IT control center components. Your day-to-day will involve monitoring and developing the emergency control system, managing communication systems and infrastructure, and contributing to service level agreements for high system availability. You will also play a key role in developing and implementing IT security and operational concepts, ensuring data protection and confidentiality. This role requires expertise in complex network architectures, data protection, and information security, offering a secure, challenging, and family-friendly work environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, or Electrical Engineering; OR Completed vocational training in IT System Electronics with several years of relevant professional experience; OR Equivalent training in Information or Electrical Engineering (e.g., IT Specialist for System Integration, Electronics Technician for Information and System Technology, Information Electronics Technician).

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT system electronics or information/electrical engineering
  • Experience with architecture of complex network systems (Windows/Linux, virtualization)
  • Experience in data protection and information security
  • Familiarity with legal aspects of IT deployment (ergonomics, accident prevention regulations)
  • Knowledge of tools for backups, redundancy, and security (especially databases)
  • Experience in troubleshooting hardware and software using monitoring tools or direct console application
