Job Summary

Sachsenforst is seeking a dedicated Species and Biotope Protection Officer to join their National Park and Forest Administration in Saxon Switzerland. This part-time role (20 hours/week), initially until December 2028, involves developing and implementing conservation concepts, plans, and projects, particularly for species and biotope protection. The officer will also oversee and coordinate the Natura 2000 management plan, provide expert opinions on conservation matters in approval processes, and conduct scientific monitoring and documentation. Collaboration with the Czech Switzerland National Park Administration and scientific institutions is key, alongside managing specialized data and contributing to public relations. This position offers an opportunity to significantly contribute to ecological sustainability and biodiversity preservation in a unique natural landscape.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Diploma or Master's) in Biology, Landscape Planning/Landscape Architecture, Ecology, Nature Conservation, Forest Sciences, or a comparable natural or environmental science degree.

Experience

  • Experience in field mapping, nature conservation environmental planning, or protected area management with an ecological focus
  • Experience in Natura 2000 management planning and implementation (ideal)
  • Experience in applying for, implementing, and settling third-party funded projects (ideal)
  • Experience with flora and fauna monitoring programs (ideal)
