Job Summary

Sachsenforst is seeking an Open Source GIS Development Officer for a 3-year fixed-term contract to manage and advance their forestry GIS (FGIS) infrastructure. This role is crucial for transitioning existing business processes into the QField/QField Cloud environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting an inventory and analysis of the current FGIS infrastructure, setting up and maintaining the QFieldCloud infrastructure, and providing essential support to all QGIS/QField users across the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a scientific university degree in Geodesy, Geoinformatics, or a related field, coupled with strong knowledge of GIS, Cartography, and spatial database management using PostgreSQL/PostGIS. Success in this position requires excellent communication, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to project documentation and user support, contributing significantly to the ecological and sustainable management of Saxony's state forests.
