This role offers an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant (Doctoral Candidate) at the University of Bremen, within the Institute for Measurement Technology, Automation and Quality Science (BIMAQ). The successful candidate will contribute to a cutting-edge project focused on developing in-process measurement technology for laser soldering processes, specifically for manufacturing vacuum insulation glass. This involves designing and integrating optical and thermographic camera systems, developing algorithms for real-time data processing, and characterizing measurement uncertainties. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or University Diploma in Physics, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering/Process Engineering/Production Engineering, or Electrical Engineering. Candidates in the final phase of their Master's studies will also be considered, but a Master's degree certificate is required for employment.

Experience

  • Basic knowledge and initial experience with optical components or measurement technology
  • Programming experience (e.g., Python or MatLab) or experience with image processing

Additional

  • This position is temporary for 3 years for scientific qualification purposes, allowing for doctoral studies. Applicants must still have sufficient qualification time remaining under § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG (German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act).
