Job Summary

This role at Germany's federal cybersecurity agency, the BSI, involves contributing to the conceptualization and advancement of electronic identity (eID) systems and official documents, with a particular focus on mobile devices and EU-DI Wallets. The successful candidate will develop testing specifications, prototypes, and tools to ensure the practicality and interoperability of eID products, conducting conformity tests with external bodies. A key aspect of the job is representing German interests in national and international standardization and government bodies, alongside programming tools for analyzing identity management systems. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Diplom (FH)/Bachelor) in Computer Science, Technical Computer Science, IT Security, Physics, Mathematics, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable relevant field with an IT/technical focus. Alternatively, a different university degree (Diplom (FH)/Bachelor) with further training or demonstrable knowledge in the specified areas.

Experience

  • Practical experience with at least one programming language
  • Good knowledge in IT security
  • Knowledge in at least one of the relevant areas for ID card systems: communication procedures, identity management protocols, cryptographic security mechanisms of mobile devices, and/or creation of test specifications and execution of conformity tests

Additional

  • Willingness to undergo an extended security clearance check (§ 9 SÜG). Willingness to participate in further training and undertake occasional, multi-day business trips. For foreign educational qualifications, proof of equivalence with a German degree from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) is required.
