Job Summary

This doctoral position at the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW) focuses on regional climate predictions and projections within the EU-funded RIVIERADE project. The successful candidate will analyze extensive ensembles of multi-decadal climate simulations for the Baltic, Black, and Mediterranean Sea regions. Key responsibilities include evaluating climate change impacts on physical and biogeochemical variables, estimating changes in extreme events like marine heatwaves and hypoxia, and assessing projection uncertainties. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree (or equivalent diploma) in Meteorology, Oceanography, or a related natural or geoscientific discipline with strong physical and mathematical components.

Additional

  • The position is for a fixed term of 3 years (until December 31, 2028) with a 75% work share (30 hours/week). The position is to be filled in flexible part-time. Candidates should be willing to engage with the IOW's innovative research program (2024–2033), specifically focusing on Research Area 2 (Coastal Seas in Transition).
