Job Summary

The Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW) is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Marine Chemistry for a project focused on long-term carbon sequestration in marine sediments within the Natura2000 Fehmarnbelt area. This role involves investigating the impact of mobile bottom-contact fishing on sedimentary carbon release and monitoring sediment regeneration in a newly established exclusion zone. The successful candidate will develop sampling strategies, conduct field work, and analyze sediment and water samples using spectroscopic and mass spectrometric methods. Required Skills

Education

PhD in Chemistry, Geochemistry, Environmental Sciences, Chemical Oceanography, or a comparable field

Experience

  • Professional experience in instrumental analytics
  • Experience with spectroscopic and/or mass spectrometric methods is ideal
  • Regular participation in and organization of sea sampling

  • The position is contingent on funding from the BfN-Project KOFI. The role requires a minimum of 30 working hours per week.
