Job Summary

This role involves developing and enhancing map models, specifically for specialized and custom maps, within the Bundeswehr's Geoinformation Systems Center in Euskirchen. The engineer will create workflows, symbolization, visualization, and generalization procedures for various map series and thematic content, and contribute to technical specifications for national and international map products. They will also be involved in developing methods for deriving and producing data models, and evaluating GIS software tools for data production and visualization. The position requires participation in national and international standardization committees, regular domestic business trips, and continuous professional development. This is an opportunity to contribute to critical geoinformation systems in a full-time, permanent position, with potential for civil servant status and flexible working arrangements including home office.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor or Diplom FH) in Cartography, Geoinformatics, Geodesy, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in using GIS software, especially ArcGIS Pro
  • Experience working with geodatabases
  • Experience in data processing with Feature Manipulation Engine (FME)
  • Experience in developing map products
  • Experience in generalization procedures

Languages

German (Fluent)English (Basic)

Additional

  • German citizenship required for civil servant status. Willingness to participate in a medical examination. Willingness to participate in a security clearance (Ü1 level required). Regular domestic business trips are required. Willingness to participate in presentations/lectures. Participation in regular and advanced training is required. For civil servant appointment, generally must not have completed 50th year of age at time of appointment. Must adhere to the principles of the liberal democratic basic order as defined by the German Basic Law. For foreign educational qualifications, proof of recognition in Germany is required. For foreign language application documents, a certified German translation must be included.
